Ingrid Starnes 'Dacha' SS 12/13

The idea behind the collection is a kind of resort-wear that might appear in a fictional East European resort where Soviet leaders mingle with French starlets and Japanese courtesans. Dacha is the Russian term for Holiday Home, and they have changed with Russia: from modest family retreats; to regal splendour; to symbols of Soviet leadership privilege; through to today's opulent Oligarch hideaways.

The range features the wonderful exclusive Blossom print, designed by Ingrid and exclusively made on habutai silk, the perfect natural material for prints on silk. This appears in a few stunning styles as the signature print of the season.

Ingrid Starnes are presenting knitwear for the first time. This is all made in New Zealand, as is all their production.

About Ingrid Starnes:

Ingrid Starnes is a New Zealand designed and made label, established in 2009. Ingrid comes from a pattern-making and design background and honed her craft at one of New Zealand’s great fashion houses, Kate Sylvester.

Natural materials and traditional elements are celebrated with vintage laces, embroidery and contemporary takes on classic styles present in the collections.

Ingrid designs her signature prints and dyes silk to custom colourways to ensure that pieces remain exclusive.

The label is represented throughout New Zealand, with a growing presence in Australia. Their flagship retail presence is the collaborative Tessuti and Ingrid Starnes store, in Auckland’s Herne Bay.
