Kathryn Wilson Winter 2010

Kathryn Wilson has designed a bold, high fashion, rock-influenced collection for winter 2010.

At first glance it is clear that the collection and Kathryn’s design influences have changed and matured; the collection has a more sophisticated edge than ever before.

This winter there are some exciting firsts, a subtle exclusive, and the return of an old favourite.

The newness is apparent in the bold use of metal appliqué, chains, sequins and zips which clearly identify the ‘Rock Chic’ element of the collection.

Even on Kathryn’s now famous hi-tops, sequins appear to add a dash of glamour to the traditionally street-only model.  In platform heels, the sequins provide added glitz to an already highly fashion forward shoe.

The immensely popular trainers and hi-tops that appeared not so long ago have this season had a makeover, too.  The label has developed a brand new sole unit, giving the shoes an altogether different feel and slimmer look.  The last will be exclusively on Kathryn Wilson models.  Available in both men’s and women’s sizes, these models give Kathryn’s traditionally formal, elegant and sexy collection a fashion credibility that only streetwear can access.

Women everywhere will gasp with joy and dash for the shops with the return this winter of the infamous Jimmy Boot!  A wardrobe stalwart of both old and new Kathryn Wilson fans, the Jimmy Boot has found new makers in Portugal who loved the model almost as much as we do.  Kathryn has overseen a reincarnation of the boot due to overwhelming demand, which truly showed her the devoted following the brand has earned.

As always, the materials Kathryn has used this season echo the quality and premium nature of the footwear she designs.  New fabrications include textured and patterned lizard prints, embossed and patent leather and calf leather.  The men’s suede Desert Boot, a new addition to the line, is finished with a classic wooden heel unit for strength and sophistication.

This season’s colours include moss green, cherry, red, gull grey and ecru cream, used both as solids and in two-tone combinations.

Kathryn’s reputation as New Zealand’s premier footwear designer is only enhanced by this collection of confident new styles, a chic colour palette and a nod towards both the classics and current trends.
