Press Release
Kathryn Wilson Winter 2012
Rich and luxe are the over-arching themes for winter ‘12, inspired by tales of powerful women, a 90’s feeling of rock ‘n’ roll excess and an aesthetic that is texturally rich, almost to the point of being overwhelming.
Conveying this feeling into footwear, Kathryn has used multiple textures and complex combinations of hides and colours. Reptile skins such as lizard, crocodile and snakeskin are combined with velvet textile, suede and calf hair (ponyskin) as well as high-shine patent leather. Carrying on fashion’s devotion to ‘safari’ Kathryn has also used animal prints such as zebra and tiger calf hair, with leopard print as an accent.
For many styles a two-tone colourway has been employed, heightening the sense of opulence. The attention to detail doesn’t stop there, with metal hardware such as exposed zips and studding on heels.
The colour palette is camel, wineberry, ink, gold, silver, pewter, tan, black and chocolate.
