twenty-seven names: Take Cover, Winter 2012
Twenty-seven names’ winter 2012 collection—take cover—celebrates a history of counterculture.
The colour palette is lifted from The Balcony by Edouard Manet, the 19th century artist whose disdain for the conventional transformed the art world. The washed-out pastels of impressionism are used to colour iconic symbols of the protest era. These colours and images are used in hand-printed silk, vintage detailing, burnt-out velvet, and lace.
twenty- seven names has chosen to show the collection in a series of eight portraits in which one not-so-obliging wall flower takes liberties with tradition in a faux trompe-l’œil fashion.
